IPS Officer Amitabh Gupta

Amitabh Gupta (born 18th June, 1969) is an IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He worked for the state’s home department as the principal secretary. He currently serves as an agency executive in Pune Police Department.



Career

After completing his training, he was posted as the A.S.P. in Bhandara district in Nov. 1995, which was naxal affected. He led several operations in the jurisdiction, resulting in the arrest of 8 Dalam Leaders & wiping out the existence of two Dalams. Seeing excellent performance in his duty, he was promoted as SUPDT of Police, Gadchiroli District. It was a highly naxal infested area. He successfully tackled the naxal problem during his stint. The local bodies’ election there was conducted peacefully in 1997 with a record percentage of 76% polling despite a call of boycott and bandh given by naxals. To bring tribals into the mainstream, he organized 60 various Mass Contact Programmes. Because of his exemplary performance during these two postings in naxal affected areas, he was awarded the Special Service Medal in 2001 by the Govt. of Maharashtra. He was awarded Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak by the Union Government in the year 2007.

Achievements

Till date, IPS Amitabh Gupta has received more than 70 appreciations, along with two Medals mentioned earlier for exemplary performance in naxal area.
